In April of this year was the first Jimmy’s Chop Shop Competition and Muscle Car Giveaway OPEN DAY!
Every person who spent over $40 in their GET CHOPPED!! store www.jimmyschopshop.com.au went in the draw to WIN a “1 of only 1” 1978 Ford Fairmont XC Hardtop or $100,000 Cash!
All funds raised went towards the sponsorship and support of four junior Aussie Athletes.
1978 Ford Fairmont XC Hardtop Complete Restoration
This show stopper was driven onto the hoist of “Jimmy’s Chop Shop” in late May of 2018.
A complete appraisal, measurement and photographic records were taken prior to the strip down. John and Jimmy painstakingly labeled every component and documented the process to ensure authenticity upon completion.
Every single nut and bolt of this vehicle was stripped out. Fully stripped down it was then time for the factory restoration to begin. The Ford Fairmont was then loaded up and sent off to the sand blasters.
When the Hardtop arrived back from the sand blasters it was one very honest and straight car with every blemish easy to see.
The car was now ready for the old school panel work to begin. Jimmy painstakingly ensured the original lines were kept in place and that all panels were finished off straight and smooth. It was no ready for the final panel and paint.
With all the rust repairs completed to perfection, it was then time to lay down some colour and start reassembly. Resident Restorations completed the stunning paint job on this classic.
Now completed, the 1978 Ford Fairmont Hardtop was ready to go to one very lucky Winner of the GET CHOPPED!! Muscle Car Give-away.
