Lakeside Classic cancelled due to $40,000 in fines

Amidst a curious Queensland Raceways community, the ever-popular Lakeside Classic hosted at the renowned Lakeside Park has been cancelled due to ‘$40,000 in fines’ that Queensland Raceways recently faced.

A series of proposals were sent to the Moreton Bay Regional Council in a bid to have the situation resolved, however the event is yet to be granted even temporary relief.

Scheduled originally for July 19-21, 2019, the Lakeside Classic would have been the first meet to be held at Lakeside Park for the calendar year.

A letter on the Queensland Raceways’ website emphasises that the Moreton Bay Regional Council refused to grant a moratorium, which in turn prohibited events such as the Lakeside Classic to come to pass.

Since then, another letter on the Queensland Raceways’ website stated that circuit management had correlated with Planning Minister Cameron Dick, Member of Parliament Shane King, and the Moreton Bay Regional Council to further any progress for the Park itself.

No dates for the completion of the  investigation have been released to the public, and the event is yet to go ahead.
