Rising star of the Repco Supercars Championship, Anton De Pasquale, has today turned his first laps in a Ford Mustang ahead of the season opener later this month.
The 25-year old has switched from an Erebus’ Holden to the Champion Shell Ford team in pit lane, the same team Scott McLaughlin claimed three straight titles with between 2018-2020.
With McLaughlin now in the US racing IndyCar, De Pasquale has big shoes to fill, but the Victorian native is keeping his cool ahead of his debut for the Dick Johnson Racing team in just over two weeks’ time.
Today De Pasquale was joined on track by his new Shell V-Power teammate Will Davison, and seven-time Supercars Champion Jamie Whincup who is retiring from full-time racing at the end of 2021.
Whincup tested the new Red Bull Commodore that has been built for his farewell season which will begin at Bathurst with the Repco Mount Panorama 500, from 26-28 February.
All Queensland-based drivers and teams will return to Queensland Raceway on Friday for official testing, ahead of the season opener in just over a fortnight’s time.
That Repco Mount Panorama 500 will be broadcast live on Foxtel, Kayo and Seven.
